On October 5th 2014, exciting change is coming to HBC! We will be launching a new schedule for our youth ministry. The new schedule will replace the current 6:00 pm Teen Bible study. Sunday mornings will function exactly how they currently do with Sunday School and morning worship. Immediately following Sunday morning worship, the teens will meet or carpool to a local restaurant to enjoy a meal and fellowship. We will then return to HBC by 1:30 for a mid-day worship service. This service will be geared toward youth and young families, but we invite anyone to attend. Our plans are to include some time of worship music led by our teens or praise band, and a message (normally brought by Bro. Jared). Before we dismiss, we will have small group break-out sessions where our teens will meet with other teens in their age and gender group. We will be grouping teens up with mentors that have an interest in getting involved with the spiritual grown of our youth. At the conclusion of this time (planned to be around 2:45 pm) we will help provide transportation to teens needing rides home. Once this schedule is in effect, there will be no evening classes for teens on Sunday nights, allowing families to be home together and focus on the week ahead.
If you feel the Lord has placed a desire in your heart to work with our teens, please contact Bro. Jared at firstname.lastname@example.org
We had an amazing time at teen camp this year. It's always great, but I feel that God is shaping our group to do great things. Our theme was "Church Camp" and each night we jumped back and forth from Exodus to Acts chapter 2 where we explored the early life of the church as Christ intended it. In each evening service, we were challenged with a specific word: Monday - Repent. Tuesday - Rise. Wednesday - Rally. Thursday - Run. Bro. Joey Cook brought God's Word each evening service while Bro. Jeremy Flanagan was the main speaker at early worship. Each message impacted each person in a different way as the Holy Spirit moved through reading of God's Word and through examples shared of God moving through the lives of real people totally committed to loving others as Christ did.
We challenged our group to each come up with tangible ways that we can love our community and be a visible example of God working in Missouri City. We all agreed that is starts with specific, laser focused prayer. We committed together to remain united as a group and impact the areas God has located us in a positive way. We can't wait to see how God is going to move in this group in the next year. If you were part of our team this year, we thank you. If you weren't, we want you to join us.
Remember: "You have no idea what God might do if you live a life that is lost in Him."
